So I bought St. Trinian's on DVD (because I wanting to see another movie with the lovely Talulah Riley in it (isn't that a lovely name?) because I wanted to see her as someone other than Mary Bennet. She blew my mind! Oh sure I'd seen her in that two episodes of Doctor Who but I didn't realize who it was in time enough to appreciate the job she did as Miss Evangelista in "Forest of the Dead and "Silence in the Library". And I had no IDEA she was even in Pirate Radio.

Well anyway I feel that St. Trinian's is one movie/DVD that has been largely overlooked or hated without real reason (it only just came on on DVD here in the USA very recently)

I mean where else can you see Rupert Everett in drag? Or Colin Firth mostly naked! Or a little dog named Mr. Darcy, HUMPING COLIN FIRTH's LEG (who once played Mr. Darcy?!?!) I laughed myself silly! Or the supermodel Lily Cole as dowdy little geek? Did I neglect to mention that Colin Firth and Rupert Everett in drag flirting with each other? There's just too much funny to comment on it here without spoiling it for you but at least rent it if nothing else! You won't be sorry!

Hell, screw Colin's Mr. Darcy or even his Mark Darcy, give me a Geoffrey Thwaites or a Jamie Bennett (Love Actually) any day! Did I forget to mention Russell Brand is in this movie too? Heee! This movie (and soundtrack) rocks!

And YES you've got to hear the song I'm listening to ("Saucy Minx" indeed Rawr!). Whee! Now I'm off to finish the second Percy Jackson book!

My fellow Pride & Prejudice (2005), Emma (1996, Paltrow) or S&S (1995) lovers if you want to keep your sanity please do yourself a favor and never ever go to the Amazon.com "Jane Austen Community" 'Book vs. Movie' thread. It would boil your blood and your brain in the worst way possible! Gah! Small-minded twits, that's what most of them are in regards to the three above mentioned movies! Grrrrrrrr.

you were warned,

P.S. Pay no attention to that frustrated ranter behind the curtain, she's just venting off steam that's shooting from out of her ears!

So yesterday I picked up a new book that I must admit just by the title alone had me in stitches. With all these "vampire romance" books floating around these days (due to True Blood and the Twilight series no doubt). I see that this particular craze has washed out people's perception of what vampires should really be.

But I'm not talking about vampires here when I talk about the book I mention earlier in this entry. No, I'm talking about something (monsters) that a person would never think to attach to romance novel. In a word? Zombies. No, I'm not talking about zombie-slaying couples (even though it's hot as hell, especially when Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet did it near the end of P&P&Z). I'm talking about couples where at least one of them is a zombie! The book's name (well anthology really) "My Zombie Valentine" I had to buy it. And now that I'm finished with "Jane Bites Back" and "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters" is on hold temporarily I thought I'd tackle Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (well the more recent edition that had 30% more zombie mayhem. I've read the original version. Now I finally have the chance to conquer the deluxe version) The book is so yummy looking. Then I'll attack "My Zombie Valentine" before moving on to finish SSSM.

Also it occurred to me that I think I should very much like steampunk romances should they ever be as popular as vampire romance. I've a feeling that a change is in the air and soon, well hopefully, that steampunk romances should soon overtake romance section in bookstores. Maybe even (again I'm hoping because I love the concept) outnumbering vampire romances altogether (although I should be very put out if Stephenie Meyer ever writes one) Stick to your cannibalistic mermaids (called siryns or sirens of all things *eyeroll*) or your blood sucking fairies but keep you distance from what I hope may be the next hot thing in romance novels.

Now that I think on it I thin a steampunk retelling of Pride and Prejudice, either on page or on screen may be the boost it needs to give the genre a lift! (No I'm not counting Android Karenina or SSSM as SP because for the most part SSSM isn't and AK isn't even released yet!

I know there's a good number of steampunk novels already but how many of theme are genuine romance novels? Hmmm? I hope the idea/genre catches on quick!

I was frustrated with trying to finish "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters" so I took a breather and read "Jane Bites Back". Loved It! To itty bitty wittle bits and pieces! Once I got started I couldn't stop myself and once I got going before I knew it I had finished it! I want more! Now damnit! I cannot wait until "Jane Goes Batty" hits the stores, I just can't!

Let's just say vampire Authors-a-go-go! That's all I'm saying! Not gonna spoil it it for you should anyone decide to pick it up. But it is so worth it, you'll be chewing your nails waiting for "Jane Goes Batty".

Dear Wal-Mart,

On one hand you rock my socks for having stocked many copies of Owl City's Ocean Eyes CD. But on the other hand you suck because you neither have his first CD nor the deluxe version of Ocean Eyes. So if I ever want a copy of "Maybe I'm Dreaming" I'll resort to with buying it on iTunes or maybe a physical copy (CD) from Amazon.

Damn you Wal-Mart I both love and hate you always,

Bijjy

P.S. to anyone who isn't Wal-Mart:

Looks like we're expecting 8 to 10 inches of snow. If it wasn't for this wannabe bronchitis I'd go outside and take a few pics of the lovely snow for you all. But then again quite a few of you are probably getting pretty much the same snow as I am.

Got a small cavity filled but I'm not allowed solid food until tomorrow. Because the filling needs time to harder, Grrr. So there went my plan of getting something to eat at McDonald's for today (and I was REALLY craving a large bacon and cheese Angus burger meal and two cherry pies) *whines* All I've had all day to it is one teeny cup of Yoplait strawberry yogurt, and I've got a couple of jello chocolate mousse cups in the fridge along with a 6-pack of chunky applesauce. And basically that's it. I also have 2 of those Velveeta instant shells and cheese bowls (just add water then pop it into the microwave, tastes just as good as the original) but I'm not tempting fate here. So by the time tomorrow comes around I'm going to be practically POUNCING on that yummy #13 when I get my paws on it tomorrow. Hell I'll probably be so hungry I could probably scarf two of 'em down without getting full, heh.

On the bright side? All together once I got into his office it probably took about 15 minutes to get the cavity filled, thank heavens it was small.

ETA: Nix that. Bob just call and I'm going in to work tomorrow from 2pm to 8 pm. *sighs* Look like no burger tomorrow either *whines* I'm HUNGRY!...I guess I could swing by McD's tomorrow after work to pick something up. Providing that is that I don't do so before work. Hmmmm. At least I'll be home in time for CSI,

Argh!

Ever since I finished listening to my Stardust audiobook all my thoughts have taken on Neil Gaiman's voice! Not that it's unpleasant, hah. It's just so distracting...yet fascinating. Maybe I should get one of Neil's shorter stories on audio as well eh? Now that I think on it, I don't mind hearing it at all but the last thing I need it to be distracted by Neil, imagined or not, id something important is going on and I need to listen lol.

---Yeah I wrote that early this morning with pen and paper. Taking notes for my LJ if you will :p. I didn't have time to get online to post it so I saved it for later now. Bloody heck I'm pooped, I think I'll save the rest of Sweeney Todd for later.

Remind me to post "What's in my bag" sometime tomorrow. I would now but I've got a yearning to watch Titanic for the first time in ages.

Why did I take pictures? *le sigh* lets just say this little article from Jezebel "inspired" me. (and to tell the truth I've been waiting years to do this and now I can because of my digital camera!

As a few of you may or may now remember I won in a local celebrity auction around a year-and-a-half ago (June or July 2008 I guess) an autographed SG-1 t-shirt by Amanda Tapping (from the Continuum movie. Hey I'm not a fan of Sam Carter but I have nothing against the lovely Amanda) My first attempts in showing off the t-shirt online were terrible as I had to solely rely on a disposable camera and getting the pictures onto a photo CD-Rom. the results were blurry and over-bright and I was heartsick even as I posted them online.

But this past Christmas as you may already know I finally got a digital camera but I only just tonight got around to taking pictures of that shirt, (well not the whole thing but the cool bits). The autograph itself don't come up as well as I'd like but just well enough to be seen. I guess that's what you get when you use a silver marker, or sharpie I can't tell, on a black t-shirt) And so without further ado the pictures (click to make bigger).

This first pic is a little blurry but I had to take a pic of the Stargate with the submarine!
SG-1,Amanda Tapping,Continuum

Ready for more? Then let's get clicking! 6 more behind the cut. )

I just wish there was a way to take a picture of the autographs I also bought that day of Ewan McGregor and Eric Szmanda(CSI) without the flash ruining the picture *sighs* I really LOVE those autographs (not pre-printed either!)

If not for this VERY informative article from Jezebel I wouldn't have know the wonder that is Nivea Creme. Who needs that overpriced crap Creme de la Mer (I've never tried it obviously). When anywhere from 99 cents to $7 you can get something just as wonderful. I mean seriously when I peeled off the seal I though I'd try on a small scraping off if it just to see what it was like.

When I fist put on small dab I was scared out of my wits when I saw how thick it was. Then just decided what the heck and spread the small dab all over my face. You know how they say "A little dab will do ya!" (obviously not the Nivea motto), they're right. Just from that small scraping off the seal did wonders for me. Not only did it make my face as soft as a baby's bottom, but it lessened (although slightly, for now) the redness in my cheeks. Ans because it's so think I dare say the 6.8oz. container will do me for months!

Wow I hate it when I sound like a commercial, lol.

Also, I wish to congratulate Neil Gaiman (author of one of my most favorite books ever) on his engagement! I know he'll never read this in a zillion years but I congratulate him and Amanda Palmer nonetheless.

It's not important but I'm just curious. Of all of you here, did any of you buy the VHS of 'Ever After' at Revco (now known as CVS) when it was first released? It came with a small black (enameled or painted on because it chipped like mad) ball chain necklace. I'm just curious if any of you had this? It was glued onto the box on the front. I've had mine for 12 or 13 years and I'm dying to know if anyone still owns theirs (if they had owned it at all)

So now that Christmas is official over for another year (and New Year's Eve/Day has yet to come) so I'd thought I'd list what I got for Christmas 2009 (Yay!)

-A pair of Tinkerbell pajamas (Don't laugh I love them! The shirt is like a long-sleeved t-shirt and the bottoms are fleece)
-Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton
-another paid year of my LJ account

-The Very Best of Enya cd (even though I already had most of the tracks there, several are remastered and i LOVE the fact that it also has a previously unreleased full version of Aníron)

-Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2-disc special edition DVD set
- a $10 gift card to the movies (which I used half of it on Sherlock Holmes last night), $10 cash, a lovely ivory fleece scarf and matching gloves all from my Aunt and Uncle

-2 pairs of jeans (because I nearly had a breakdown in the middle of Wal-mart when I tried on several pairs and still found nothing, Mom being the miracle worker that she is found me two wonderful pair at K-Mart that fit me perfectly! Easy Riders stretch go gap comfort waistband)

- Kodak digital camera (plus 4GB memory card and a Polaroid PoGo printer)
- small lime green digital camera case

-small red digital camera case (from Dad, it's too small though gotta take it back) plus $40 from Dad, which I used to buy a photo album, "Jane Bites Back" by Michael Thomas Ford and "Plum Spooky" by Janet Evanovich

And now I've got the feeling that I've missed something...
